The blackberry bold is a good phone, but beware of these issues:
The default mapping application is dreadful in australia.
You will need to install 3rd Party software like google maps to be useful.
The microsd slot is difficult work with at times.
The battery life is bad at high load which is to be expected.

Opinions, etc
I am sitting here wondering when the american exchange with stabilize. It is causing chaos for me as i like to import american dvds, but am having to be real careful because of this wretched exchange rate. It will have to go up soon, i hope. At least hong kong sellers on ebay usually use australian currency.

laptop bags
I just picked up a Crumpler "Salary Sacrifice" backpack-style laptop bag. It was pricey, but has a very long warranty, is tough and protective of contents. only problem is its worth AU$230.

Patents
I get sick and tired of hearing patent threats, trolls, sueing of invalid patents, etc. These are forever clogging up tech. Examples include final certification(although certified draft is fine) of wifi N and CED(screen technology). I agree that software patents should be stopped and invalidated, and highly generic patents taken down. They have caused enough trouble as they are without asking for more. Please listen...(i could go on about dcma but i won't)

Mobile data, blackberry, and other crap.
I am sick and tired of poor value gprs data in oz(unless you are on an excluse telstra plan for the hiptop). GPRS data should be reasonably cheap. It's worse than dialup, and data consumption would be minimal anyway. I got a blackberry(my first) on ebay recently, and can't use fully because of that(i'm on virgin mobile prepaid). You can only get 50MB for five dollars. Times need to change that. My other gripe, is that blackberry can't strandardize there keypads much. That means that if i upgrade my blackberry, the keypad, and interface. They don't use the trackwheel interface anymore, and that interface is good.
